About SeaMe Systems:
Where Personal Mission Meets Life-Saving Innovation
Founded by a veteran, father, and grandfather whose family inspired a revolution in accessible emergency communication technology.
Our Story
Innovation Born from Love
SeaMe Systems wasn’t born in a boardroom – it was born from a father’s love and a grandfather’s determination to keep his family safe.
The Personal Foundation
When Randy Dean Sr. watched his hearing-impaired children and grandchildren navigate a world designed only for the hearing, he knew something had to change. “We don’t have the luxury of knowing what’s going on. We simply run because everyone else is,” explains his daughter Ashli, describing the terrifying reality of emergency situations for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
That reality became Randy’s calling.
The Professional Foundation
Randy’s journey to innovation began with six years of distinguished military service as an Air Force Aircrew Life Support Specialist – the person responsible for ensuring parachutes, ejection seats, and emergency equipment would work when lives depended on it. This first responder mindset, combined with 14 years of risk management and safety experience, created the perfect foundation for revolutionary emergency communication technology.
The Moment of Truth
In 2018, as Safety Officer with LA County Department of Beaches and Harbor, Randy faced a sobering reality: no emergency system existed anywhere in the world to effectively communicate with deaf and hard-of-hearing beachgoers during evacuations.
His response? “I’ll build it myself.”
The Innovation Process
Randy’s research was exhaustive. He contacted counties across California and beyond, reached out to technology giants like LG and GE, and partnered with GLAD (Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness) – the largest deaf advocacy group in the country. When the world told him it couldn’t be done, he proved them wrong.
The Breakthrough
By 2019, BEELS (Beach Emergency Evacuation Lights System) was born. The first system of its kind, BEELS could evacuate a beach in seconds instead of the typical 15-25 minutes. When demonstrated before the mayor, elected officials, and California’s Office of Emergency Services, the results were so impressive that California endorsed BEELS for all counties statewide.
